The Relaxation Response

What is the Relaxation Response? Basically it is the opposite of the ‘Adrenaline Rush’ that we associate with stress and anxiety. Physiologically, our bodies respond to peceived threatening  situations with an increased release of the hormones Epinephrine and norepinephrine, leading to an increase in our heart rate and blood pressure, and an accelerated breathing rate preparing our bodies for the ‘Fight or Flight’ response.

At the end of each Yoga session, we do a minimum 10 minute progressive muscle relaxation exercise with visualisation to calm the mind and soothe the body after the class, leaving you refreshed and relaxed.
