ENERGY & BALANCE

When your body is well balanced, it functions in harmony, your skeleton supports your body and your muscles can enjoy their work of moving your bones without stress. When your posture is out of balance, your muscles have to compensate and act as supporters, so the contract and stiffen and you end up carrying a lot of unnecessary tension. The cumulative effect on your nervous system results in fatigue which is never completely relieved by sleep and results in exhaustion.

When you begin to practise Yoga, the effect on your energy level can be dramatic. As your posture becomes more balanced, the circulation of blood improves and your breathing flows more easily. Your body then relaxes and more at ease and as a result your energy is increased.

40 ways (& days) yoga heals

Day 2
Strengthens muscles: Muscle weakness contributes to numerous problems including arthritis, back pain and falls in the elderly. Many of the physical limitations people associate with aging including weakness and progressive disability are due to loss of muscle (use it or lose it) – dubbed Sarcopenia – degenerative loss of skeletal muscle mass. Studies have shown that even people in their 80’s can make rapid gains in function when they adopt a regime to build muscle. Asana practice not only strengthens muscles, but does so in a functional way balancing strength with flexibility. In addition to strengthening muscles Yoga appears to build endurance and delay the onset of fatigue.

GENTLY DOES IT! – THE BENEFITS OF GENTLE YOGA

Our body is a living vehicle that we have abused and misused, and it shows wear and tear and all the experiences we have gone through. Gentle yoga helps you realize that you should not take your body for granted. It’s a gift!!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,It’s the main character in your life’s movie….SO BE KIND TO IT!

We all know of yoga’s numerous benefits. In gentle yoga, you take time to feel your body move. Breath and movement are pathways to keep the organs healthy and the joints lubricated. We are made of energy, and gentle yoga makes you listen to your own words and slow your pace a little.

You stay in a pose long enough to enjoy that you are not pushing yourself. Gentle yoga equally strengthens and stretches, increasing flexibility and repairing muscles that are in need of love.

Gentle yoga keeps the atmosphere free of competition and comparison. The energy of the class is generally happy and calm.

Most importantly, people are becoming aware of their body and how it works individually. And seeing them return for more every week is rewarding.

The yoga I teach is extremely gentle, and my preference is to give verbal cues of modifications rather than hands-on adjustments. It is suitable for beginners and a very friendly class.
